Agua Bendita Swimwear was founded in 2003 by Catalina Alvarez and Mariana Hinestroza; owners and designer of the brand. Agua Bendita Swimwear satisfies the needs of modern and sophisticated women that want to be noticed and very attractive. This brand combines artesian elements with technological processes, resulting in very unique and exclusive pieces. Each swimsuit has a very feminine appearance as a result of the combination of vibrant colours and the highest quality materials available worldwide. This makes every piece unique and avant-garde.
Since the beginning Agua Bendita Swimwear has been an important participant in different fashion shows. Its exuberance, colours and creativity has been the target or different sponsors of big companies. In the past four years Agua Bendita Swimwear as participates in Cartagena look 2005, Colombianmoda 2006, Colombianmoda 2007, Plataforma K 2007, Panama Ford Model 2006 and in numerous local events.
The Inspiration behind the 2009 Agua Bendita Swimwear Collection “Alusina Melusina”
Fairy Melusina is part of the Irish oral tradition. She lives in the dense forests with its lagoons, cascades, grottos and mysterious places. Turned into a swan – an immaculate bird of light – the fairy watches her paradise from the sky, and flies towards the water mirrors that form in the highest parts of the forest. There, in her favourite place, Melusina shows her great power and strong magic. At night, when she adapts her human form, she dazzles with her beauty to any eye that has the joy to see her singing and dancing happily between forest fireflies. The fairy appears from nowhere, mysterious, luminous and beautiful, glancing her eyes to her heart’s chosen one. Her image is an experience from the forest, cascades and crystalline lagoons.
The swimsuits in the 2009 Agua Bendita Swimwear Collection "Alusina Melusina"
Based on this magic personage, designers of Agua Bendita Swimwear, Catalina Alvarez and Mariana Hinestroza, separate themselves from tradition beach and summer inspiration in order to create a swimsuit collection where colours from nature vibrate, full of romantic and subtle details, without losing any strength and sensuality that have characterised Agua Bendita Swimwear.
Alive, brilliant and fluorescent colours, diverse textures and the traditional mixture between manual crafting and technology are some of the characteristics of the swim pieces and accessories that will be seen at the closing night in Colombiamoda. Some of the pieces, like the hand sewn chemises, require up to 20 days of manual labor. Designers have followed each step in the process to be sure that the collection impacts for its beauty, and also for its comfort and quality.
Silhouettes and patterns remain basic since the impact concentrates in the mix of materials, textures and colours.
